Chocolate Seahorse acrylic painting
This was a purely experimental painting, I started with no notion at all what it would look like... I've been told it looks like chocolate... I'm ok with that :)

Seahorse acrylic painting
Had some fun playing with the background and the eye on this one.... also wanted to do something that was a little less 'cute'.

Abstract Seahorse acrylic painting
Had a 'snow day' from work a few weeks back. Got iced in and the boss instructed me to "stay home and paint".... so I did :)

Predator Seahorse Acrylic Painting
Acrylic on canvas
I admit it, I'm a Predator/Alien geek.... I've even read the fan fiction :) A piece of Predator art was only a matter of time I suppose. He needs an Alien companion...

Two Headed Seahorse Acrylic Painting
Acrylic on watercolor board
I had a Raggedy Ann lunch box as a child, and that's what sparked this piece.... and then it mutated :). I'd like to find someone who could sew me one of these!
I have recently flaked out.... some time a few weeks back the internet in general was suddenly a very dull place. Update the blog? nah... Facebook? phffft.... Twitter? nope.... Did I go back to the real world?!?!? 'o course not, I buried myself in a couple books :)
I read the The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, The Descent by Jeff Long and am now in the middle of a biography about Eleanor of Aquitaine.
I do expect that soon I'll be back throwing my two cents into the social networking pool.

This is Earl. He's a crusty little guy who's quite put out at the recent invasion of jellyfish.

Sea Moth Acrylic Painting
8 x 10
Acrylic on watercolor board
I've always liked the luna moth, the soft green wings, the fuzzy little body.. I figure it's about time I painted one! sort of.

Sea Rhino Acrylic Painting
11 x 14
acrylic on watercolor board
I've found myself on a seahorse kick. This guy's got a giraffe companion in the works and a couple insect themed 'seahorses' are on the way also. I'm going to be a busy girl this weekend! :)

Chinese Crested Seahorse Acrylic Painting
8 x 8
This piece was determined not to be cooperative in the scanning/photographing department. The true colors are somewhere between the images above. :::sigh:::
Anyhow... This little guy's name is Horatio, and is trying to find his way back to the little mermaid's purse :)

Floral swirl tattoo
This is what I did at work today, it was kind of a last minute deal but I couldn't resist when she wanted to base it off my seahorse painting. How cool is that?

Seahorse Ink and acrylic painting
Well, here's the finished product. I'm not overly wild about some parts of it, but over all it was fun to do and I did learn a bit. And I named him Lawrence :)

Seahorse ink and acrylic painting WIP
Here's the ink drawing I posted yesterday with a few acrylic washes. I don't believe I'm going to manage to achieve the translucency I got with the octopus painting a few days back, but in failing to reproduce the effect I think I've figured out how I did it the first time. :) At this point I really don't know where this painting is going but I'm enjoying myself anyway.

Seahorse ink drawing WIP
The ink drawing portion of this seahorse is almost completed. I'm planning on painting it, similar to my last work great horned octopus painting, using multiple layers of acrylic paint washes. I didn't add as many details into the drawing this time, my focus will be texturing the open spaces with the paint washes.

Seahorse Maid
Acrylic on watercolor board
This is one of the paintings I did yesterday at the 'artist play-date' I went to. I think the day was a rousing success, there were 8 that showed and we just hung out and worked on whatever interested us, whatever medium we wanted.. and had snacks :)... the day flew by. I got far more done in those 3 hours than I would have in 3 hours at home. Looking forward to doing it again next month!
