2010 in under 3 minutes

This past year has been fairly productive.. for me at least :) It's interesting to watch how your work changes over time.. I still have a problem sticking to any one thing but it's taken me longer this year to lose interest in a body of work. I guess there's hope I might settle down one day :) And playing with the movie maker was fun too!

Wasn't overly happy with the last one so I did it again.

medusa cherub

8" x 7"
Colored pencil on pastel paper

Wow, this was rough... I gave up on it at least three times... but here it is! I still like the idea, but I kinda want to redo it... maybe try painting it, but not for a while.

I don't really think swallows suck, but sometimes you gotta do something different....

Blue Jay - Flamingo hybrid

Blue Jamingo

Colored pencil and acrylic on paper

I have been doing some DNA splicing.... seriously, wouldn't that be a cool looking bird???

Speaking of splicing.... Anyone seen the movie "Splice"? It's creepy, weird, and .... holy crap did they just do THAT???!?!?!?!. Don't expect award winning cinematography but watch it anyway :)

Giraffe Hippocampus

Giraffe Hippocampus

Acrylic and colored pencil on watercolor board

A Hippocampus is part of the latin name for the seahorse, and a part of your brain (which just happens to be shaped like a seahorse), and also the name for a mythical creature that's half horse half fish. So why is this one a giraffe? I don't know. enjoy!

Owl painting

Owl

6" x 8"
Acrylic and colored pencil on watercolor board

Shocked? a bird all intact with feathers and everything! This was my weekend project, and it was so nice to break out my colored pencils again... I think they will always be my first and true love... but there's no getting them smooth on cold press watercolor board! I really liked mixing the paint and pencils so I shall now be investigating supports that will work with both... any suggestions?
