Rarely am I ever pleased with a painting when I'm done, but I am pleased with this one. Diane Hoeptner commented in a recent post about the advantage of 'thick and bold' painting over 'thin and timid'. Well, yes, I knew that but I've never put it into practice.. I did with the leaves on this piece and I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked them and how quickly I could work that way! Obviously I need to stop being such a chicken all the time ;) Also, with this piece I've come closest to how I picture my work in my head, yay progress!

I learned quite a bit doing this piece, I'm not used to using acrylics straight out of the tube. Some parts I'm pleased with, but I think I'll be doing another version in the future :)

Started with the fur tonight... took a while to figure it out, but it was fun once I got into a groove :)

Here are some progress shots of my latest piece. Almost everything about this is new or at least not that familiar for me. I'm using acrylics on masonite and I attempted something of an underpainting... I like the second stage better than the first, there's more depth, now I have to figure out how to get it back! fun fun fun
