chrysanthemums and octopi

Well, the mutant flower tangent has died out for the moment. I had two paintings started last weekend and haven't touched them since...

Chrysanthepus

Spider Mum

Instead I've been working on an ink drawing of an octopus....

I plan on doing some watercolors over the ink... should have it finished tomorrow. I would like to say the flowers will be finished some time soon... but I've already started sketching a seahorse to go with the octopus so it doesn't look hopeful.

I seem to be incapable of settling on anything for a while :)

Wild Flower

Acrylic on watercolor board

Second version! I like this MUCH better. His name is Melville.. and he's been incarcerated for random acts of violence and deviant behavior towards our Fu Pug.

Jelly Shroom v.2

Jelly Shroom v.2

Acrylic on watercolor board

I had to do a second Jelly Shroom... but wouldn't ya know it, I don't like it as much as the first. Always happens this way, I just forgot :) If I try to repeat myself I get stale real quick. I will be continuing the Mutant Flower series, I have a 'wild flower' percolating in my brain. A quick diversion first though... a pair of aquatic type girls... stay tuned!

And yet another mutant plant. I'm pleased with this one... I like that the upper cap looks transparent, I wasn't sure how I was going to accomplish that and the pallet is a bit different than I'm used to working with and I think it payed off to try some different colors. I had so much fun doing it I've already started version 2!

Forget Me Knot

Forget Me Knot

Acrylic on watercolor board

Another in what's turning out to be a series of Mutant Plants. I'm having alot of fun with this topic and apparently so are my friends because suggestions for upcoming paintings have been arriving with increasing frequency... and I am appreciative :)... So I leave it on the table for anyone out there... suggestions are welcome!

Chimpansy

Acrylic on watercolor board

A lovely example of rare primate foliage. Difficult to keep as a house plant. Prefers a steady diet of venus fly-traps, pitcher plants and the occasional psychedelic mushroom. Also enjoys fligging poo at household pets.
